Machine learning – is making the computer learn from data, without explicity programming it. The webinar covered few pointers on how to get started in Machine learning

Big data gives the ability to discover insights from huge data. By huge, we mean the data that cannot be processed by a single machine.

Big data tools discussed

Hadoop is a Map Reduce framework processing large datasets in parallel, on clusters of commodity hardware. This is cheaper, as it’s a open source solution that can run on commodity hardware . It’s faster on massive data volumes as data processing is done in parallel.

Apache Spark is an emerging platform that has more flexibility than MapReduce but more structure than a basic message passing interface. It relies on the concept of distributed data structures (what it calls RDDs) and operators.
